This Privacy Policy describes how Proofly ("we", "our", or "the app") handles your information when you use the Proofly Android app. We are committed to protecting your privacy and only collecting what is necessary to provide the service.

Information We Collect

When you use the Proofly app, we collect the following:

Google Account information — your name and email address, obtained via Google Sign-In, to identify your account.
UPI ID — entered by you in Settings, stored locally on your device. Used to generate your personal payment link for bill splitting.
Group and expense data — group name, member names, monthly expenses (rent, electricity, etc.), and contribution amounts that you enter in the app.
Split data — receipt details (retailer name, total, items) and the names and amounts assigned to each person when you create a split.
Payment status — whether a person has paid their share, as updated through the split page.

How We Use Your Information

To authenticate your account and identify you as a group admin or member.
To calculate and display monthly settlements among group members.
To generate shareable split links so your friends can view and pay their share.
To show ads via Google AdMob, which may use device identifiers for ad personalisation subject to Google's privacy policy.

Data Storage

Your data is stored in Firebase Firestore (Google Cloud), a secure cloud database. This includes group data, expense records, and split information. Your UPI ID is stored only on your device using local app storage and is never uploaded to our servers.

Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties, except:

Firebase / Google Cloud — for database and authentication infrastructure.
Google AdMob — for showing ads within the app. AdMob may collect device advertising IDs. See Google's Privacy Policy.
Split links are publicly accessible by anyone with the link — only share them with people you trust.

What We Don't Do

We do not access your bank account, payment cards, or UPI transaction history.
We do not process or handle any real money — payments happen directly between users via UPI.
We do not sell your data to advertisers or data brokers.
We do not access your contacts, camera, microphone, or location.

Data Deletion

You can delete your group data, splits, and expenses at any time from within the app. To request full account deletion, contact us at the email below and we will remove your data from our servers within 30 days.

Children's Privacy

Proofly is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by updating the date at the top of this page.
